Alice Ruth Fleming

Alice Ruth Fleming, 90, of Marietta, Ohio, formerly of Hagerstown, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 10, 2011, at her home, with her family by her side.

Born on Jan. 21, 1921, in Petersburg, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Wilson C. and Nellie R. (Smith) Deadrick.

Alice was a 1939 graduate of Petersburg High School.

She retired from Hoffman Chevrolet and had previously worked for the Fairchild Corp.

She was a member of First Christian Church and the Ever Ready Sunday School Class before moving to Marietta in 2010 to be closer to her son and daughter-in-law.

She volunteered at Washington County Hospital for the Ladies Auxiliary.

Alice loved spending time with her family and adored her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling and spending time in Naples, Fla., and Montauk, N.Y. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Alice was known for her strong faith in the Lord, which gave her great strength to deal with life's difficult times.

She is survived by her son, David M. Fleming and wife, Jamie, of Vienna, W.Va.; grandsons, Christopher Fleming of Golden, Colo., Michael Fleming and Katie of Nicholasville, Ky., David Fleming and Lisa of Richmond, Va.; stepgrandchildren, Ryan and Megan Harnish of Vienna, W.Va.; great-grandchildren, Ryleigh Kate Fleming of Nicholasville, Ky., and Joshua Fleming of Richmond; two sisters, Lee Anna Deadrick of Lexington, Va., and Mary Boyd and husband, Gene, of Houston, Texas; one brother, Robert Deadrick of Mesa, Ariz.; sister-in-law, Louise Bare of Hagerstown; and sister-in-law, Lois Deadrick of Petersburg, W.Va.

In addition to her parents she also was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Morris E. Fleming; a daughter, Susan E. Kish; a granddaughter, Tania Stitely Kish; and two brothers, George and Frank Deadrick.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, July 15, 2011, at 11 a.m. at First Christian Church, 1345 Potomac Ave., Hagerstown, with the Revs. Steven Johns-Boehme and Robert Regenold officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.

Friends will be received on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown.
