Alice Viola Kercheval

Alice Viola Kercheval, 85, of Hagerstown, passed away, Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Meritus Medical Center.
Born, May 20, 1927 in Funkstown, she was the daughter of the late, John K. and Elsie R. (Rockwell) Smith.
She was a 1945 graduate of Hagerstown High School.
Mrs. Kercheval was a homemaker and a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church. She loved her family and enjoyed needlecraft, baking and gardening.
She is survived by three daughters, Nancy Bautro and husband Noel of Baltimore, Pamela Ebersole and husband Roy of Mercersburg and Luanne Spiller and husband Neil of Silver Spring; one sister, Josephine Stouffer of Arlington, Va.; one brother, John R. "Jack" Smith of Hagerstown and eight grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she also was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, James Franklin Kercheval, Jr.; four sisters, Carrie Sterling, Helen Williams, Elsie Evans and Mary Flurie; two brothers, Paul E. Smith and Charles W. Smith.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with the Rev. Jeff Shull officiating.
Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home one hour prior to services.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Alice's name to the Maryland Food Bank, Western Branch, 220 McRand Court, Hagerstown, MD 21740.
