Austin Calvert Rice

Austin Calvert Rice, 92, of Hagerstown, passed away, Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown.
Born September 15, 1922 in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late, Reno and Amy (Dibert) Rice. In addition to his parents he also was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Janet Lorraine (Herbst) Rice and one brother, Elmer Rice.
Mr. Rice was a US Army veteran of WW II.
He was a member of St. Peter's (Beard's) Lutheran Church.
Mr. Rice retired as a self employed contractor/builder.
He is survived by one son, Lorne B. Rice and wife Tracey of Smithsburg; one brother, Roy L. Rice of Hagerstown and one niece and several nephews.
At his request, there will be no visitation.
Graveside services will be conducted at Rest Haven Cemetery at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Thomas Perry officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's (Beard's) Lutheran Church, 21348 Old Forge Rd., Hagerstown, MD 21740 or to Fahrney-Keedy Chapel, 8507 Mapleville Rd., Boonsboro, MD 21713.
Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, Hagerstown is assisting the family with the arrangements.
