Bette Ann Sokol

Elizabeth "Bette" Ann Sokol, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2019 at her home.
Born in Gary, Indiana on July 7, 1931 to Paul and Mary Katherine (Stefanic) Estock.
Bette graduated from Methodist Hospital as a registered nurse. She soon met her best friend and life long partner, husband Joseph Sokol, Sr. They would settle in the countryside just outside of Hagerstown, spending most of their 66 years of married life there, raising four children.
Bette was a strong, compassionate, and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her children will always be grateful for her endless patience, quick humor, lifelong encouragement and unconditional love. Her love of nature, inquisitive mind, creative spirit, and empathetic heart were enjoyed by all those who loved her.
In addition to her husband, Joseph,Sr., she also is survived by two sons, Joseph Sokol, Jr. and John Michael Sokol and his wife, Linda (Haynes) Sokol; a daughter, Mary Kathleen Greco and her husband, Ron Greco; four grandchildren, Laura, Alan, Mark and Kevin; one step grandson, James; one brother, Paul John Estock and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bette was preceded in death by her son, Steven Sokol; a daughter-in-law, Melody (Kline) Sokol and a sister-in-law, Paula Estock.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 12:00 P.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 224 W. Washington St., Hagerstown with Rev. Fr. Ernest Cibelli as celebrant.
Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, October 4, 2019 from 6-8 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Steven Sokol Memorial Scholarship Fund at St. Mary's School, in Hagerstown.
