Betty Jane West, 82, of Hagerstown, passed away Monday, April 16, 2012, at Autumn Assisted Living in Hagerstown.
Born Oct. 18, 1929, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Henry and Laura Virginia (Harter) Ruck.
Mrs. West retired as a cashier for Acme Markets in Hagerstown with 33 years of service.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Michael S. Ruck and fiance, Deb K. Myers, of Hagerstown, and David L. West and wife, Catherine A., of Williamsburg, Va.; one brother, Vincent B. Ruck of Jackson, Miss.; eight grandchildren, Jeffrey M. Ruck, Kelly E. Ruck, Christi Lee West, Lindsy B. Ruck, Jeffrey Conners, Shane Wynkoop, Nicole Wynkoop Crone and Brandon Myers; and six great-grandchildren, Victor Conners, Katrinia Conners, Connor Rohrbaugh, Brentyn Ruck, Lucas Wynkoop and Jordyn Crone.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard West Jr.; one brother, Samuel H. Ruck Jr.; and one sister, Gladys V. Ailshire.
Funeral services will be Thursday, April 19, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Louis L. Emerick officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday one hour before services at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Betty's name to Alzheimer's Association, Greater Maryland Chapter, 1850 York Road, Suite D, Timonium, MD 21093
