Betty Louise (Florence) Dicks

Betty Louise (Florence) Dicks, 94, of Hagerstown, MD passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at Brookdale Assisted Living in Hagerstown.
She was born May 13, 1927, in Jacksonville, FL. She was the daughter of the late Parker Hayward and Louise Armenia (Williams) Florence. In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her husband, John G. Dicks, Jr., and two sisters, Parkerlyn Florence Darsey and Gloria Whitney Klein.
Betty graduated from high school at College Park High School in College Park, Georgia, and went to Shorter College for 2 years, and then graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education.
She was employed as a kindergarten teacher/1st-grade teacher in Fairfax, VA for 6 years and worked for Paramount Interiors in Hagerstown, MD for 11 years. She attended John Wesley United Methodist Church in Hagerstown, MD.
After retirement, she loved spending time with family and friends. She loved the beach and enjoyed family gatherings. She adored the bus trips with her friends. Her self-assured personality showed in her clothes of vibrant color and her house was brightened with pastel colors. She is a breast cancer survivor of 34 years.
She is survived by three children, John G. “Chip” Dicks, III, Robert P. “Bob” Dicks (wife, JoAnne) and Joan L. Lindenmuth (husband, Rick); two siblings, Parker H. “Buddy” Florence, Jr., and Nancy K. (Florence) Johnston; seven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Private graveside services will be conducted in Rest Haven Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at Grand Point Church, 2230 Grand Point Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202 on April 9, 2022, from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm with Pastor Lawrence Metzler officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Betty’s name to the Breast Cancer Association or/and Hospice of Washington County, c/o Doey’s House, 11370 Caring Pathway Lane, Hagerstown, MD 21742.
