Blanche Louise Gilbert

Blanche Louise (Shatzer) Gilbert, 84, of Hagerstown, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Sinai Hospital, in Baltimore.
Born September 9, 1930 in Smithsburg, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Ada Josephine (Fleagle) Shatzer.
She was a 1947 graduate of Smithsburg High School.
Blanche worked as a hairdresser and owned her own salon in Hagerstown called "The Magic Mirror".
She was a member of Christ Reformed Church in Hagerstown as well as the Brightwood Homemaker's Association. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, and spending time outside in her yard.
Blanche is survived by her daughter, Cathy M. Inkeles and husband Andrew of Fulton, MD.; a step daughter, Teresa Davis and husband Richard of Whitehall, MD.; a step son, Thomas P. Gilbert and wife Kathleen of Glenville, WV.; two brothers, Norman Shatzer and wife Gloria of Hagerstown, Frank Shatzer and wife Jean of Waynesboro, PA.; two granddaughters, Heather Sylvester and husband Kenny of Laytonsville, MD., Lauren Ricciardelli and husband Eric of Hilton Head Island, SC.; five great-grandsons, Tyler, Nate, Cameron, Colton, Chase; a soon to be great-grandchild, "Skittles"; four step grandchildren, Hope, Mikayla, Daniel, Clair; a step great-granddaughter, Emma Rose;and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James Adam Gilbert; a brother, Leonard Shatzer; and a sister, Rose Myers.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00am on Friday, May 8, 2015 at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Dr. Gregg Meserole officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends will be received one hour prior to the funeral in the funeral home.
