Burton Alexander Young, 83, of 630 Summit Ave., passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, April 12, 2011.
Born in Hagerstown on Jan. 19, 1928, he was the son of the late Joseph E. Young Jr. and Mary Neikirk Young.
Burton attended Hagerstown schools and graduated from the Mercersburg Academy.
He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church on East Franklin Street, Hagerstown.
Burton is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Patricia Smith Young; his sons, Burton Jr. and wife, Stephanie, and Jeffrey and wife, Lori; granddaughter, Jaime, and grandsons, Connor and Brody. He is also survived by a brother, Joseph Young III of Hagerstown; a sister-in-law, Connie Mitchell of Jacksonville, N.C., and several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew and caregiver, Dennis Smith.
He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Herbert Mitchell.
Services and burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
