C. Veneta Potts

C. Veneta A. Potts, 76, of Hagerstown, passed from this life to eternal life into the arms of her Lord Jesus and her late family on Friday, August 23, 2019.
Born August 30, 1942 in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Harry F. and Mary Jeannette (Criswell) Holmes.
She was a 1960 graduate of Boonsboro High School.
She was a member of Sharpsburg Bible Church, where she was a former teacher of Sunday and Bible school, a youth group leader, a member of Sisters-in-Christ ladies group and a choir member. She was also a member of Sharpsburg American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit No. 236.
Since 1947, her family constructed crosses from palm leaves which were given to her church members as well as other area churches.
Veneta retired as a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service, Hurley's Auction and Antietam Recreation.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two sons, James F. Potts and Phillip E. Potts.
Veneta is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, David Calvin Potts, whom she married, February 12, 1961; two sons, John "Sonny" David Potts and his wife Debbie of Florida and Mark W. Potts, formerly of Lenoir, N.C., now residing in Hagerstown; grandsons, Michael Potts and wife Rachel of Oregon, Jeremy Potts of N.C., Nathan Potts of Hagerstown; her loving and caring sister, Linda May of Fairplay; nephews, Donnie May, Kevin May, and Todd May and his wife Donna; great nephew, Darren May; and great nieces, Sarah E. May and Krissy Vanoy.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00pm on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Gene Renner officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and again following the burial at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
