Carl Gilbert Robison

Carl Gilbert Robison, Sr., 89, of Hagerstown, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at the Golden Living Center.

Born April 1, 1925 in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Edward Solomon and Mary Alice (Weller) Robison.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Hagerstown. Carl was involved in giving the Community Ambulance Rescue service their start in the late 50's and early 60's. Carl spent two years in the US Army and 2 years in the COB Reserve in Hagerstown. He was a member of the Hagerstown VFW; the American Legion Bugle Core; the Western Maryland Old Times Assoc. of Clear Spring; the Last Man's Super Club in Clear Spring; and the American Legion of Clear Spring.

He was retired from Western Maryland Railway after 38 years of service. Carl served on the Washington County Sheriff Dept. for 20 years under Sheriff Price and was also a constable for 10 years.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Elizabeth Frances (Price) Robison, who died May 17, 2011; three sisters, Agatha Heironimus, Lottie Wilderman, Dolly Cross; and four brothers, Edward Robison, Millard "Jerry" Robison, Merle Robison, and Lloyd Robison.

Carl is survived by three daughters, Dianne Reid and husband Jerry O. of Hagerstown, Beverly Robison of Harpers Ferry, Carleen Martz and husband Roger of Hagerstown; a son, Carl Robison, II of Oakland; a sister, Iretta Nuss of Hagerstown; a brother, Max Robison of Hagerstown; four grandchildren, Sherie Kershner of Falling Waters, Zack Ackerman of Clinton, Arron Robison and Andrea Robison of Hagerstown; five great-grandchildren, Bailey, Taylor, and Avery Kershner of Falling Waters, Rylan Ackerman of Clinton, Caleb Rhodes of Hagerstown; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00pm on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with Pastor Robert Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery with military honors being accorded by the MD State Honor Guard.

Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
