Carl Wendell Hampton

Carl Wendell "Pappy" Hampton, loving husband, father and friend, 82, of Hagerstown, passed away Monday, March 26, 2012, at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown.

Born, June 22, 1929, in Mercersburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Chalmer and Ollie (Metcalf) Hampton.

Mr. Hampton retired as a baker with 30 years of service with Manbecks Bakery and 15 years with the Holsum Bakery.

He was a member of the Greencastle Sportsman Club and the Improved Order of Red Men Tribe 84, Williamsport.

He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley L. (Repp) Yeakle; two daughters, Vicki L. Hines and husband Steve, and Lori Y. Magner and husband Rick; three grandchildren, James Miller III, Shawn Hines and wife Jill, and black cocker spaniel Kacci Magner; three great-grandchildren, Karlee Hines, Brandyn Hines and Landon Hines; one sister, Betty Ambrose; one brother, Ronald Hampton; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by a daughter, Regina L. Miller; a grandson, Erik Hines; a sister, Clair Hampton; and a brother, Cecil Hampton.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, March 29, 2012, at noon at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Clark D. Carr officiating.

Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Friends will be received at the funeral home two hours prior to services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of his daughter, Regina, to the American Cancer Society, 1037 Haven Road, Hagerstown MD 21742.
