Charles Albert Raikes

Charles A. Raikes, 90, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Julia Manor Health Care Center, MD.
Born in Fairmont, WV on August 17, 1927, he was the son of the late Mary (Shaver) and John Albert Raikes. In addition to his parents, Charles is preceded in death by his loving wife of 40 years, Calantha Jean Raikes; brothers, Gerald, Donald and Robert; and sisters Beatrice and Genevieve.
Charles was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He loved gardening, sports, reading, movies and his family.
Charles is survived by his son, Charles M. Raikes; daughter, Martha Baumbach and husband Keith; son, Gerald B. Raikes; grandchildren, Brandon Raikes, Ashley Raikes, Jordon Raikes, Abigail Baumbach and Seth Baumbach; great grandchildren, Carter, Braxton and Kyler; and daughter in law, Trish Raikes.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Rest Haven Funeral Home, Inc. 1601 Pennsylvania Ave. Hagerstown, MD. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends will be received one hour prior.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Charles' name to the American Diabetes Foundation P.O. Box 11454 Alexandria, VA 22312.
