Charles Ellsworth Dayhoff, Jr.

Charles Ellsworth "Buddy" Dayhoff Jr., 62, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born Sept. 24, 1948, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Charles Ellsworth Sr. and Eunice Arleen (Magaha) Dayhoff.

He was a retired owner and operator truck driver and had a love of racing, from quarter midgets to NASCAR.

Buddy is preceded in death by his first wife, Lorraine (Norris) Dayhoff Rickard.

He is survived by his girlfriend, Betty Zeigler, of Hagerstown; a son, John W. Dayhoff Sr. and wife, Jeanne, of Falling Waters, W.Va.; a daughter, Belinda S. Heare and husband, Roger, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; five stepsons, Frankie Garvin and wife, Bridgette, Johnny Garvin, Joe Garvin and wife, Amy, Eddie Garvin and wife, Sandy, and Alex "Po" Garvin; four grandsons, Pierre Cline Jr., Chance Cline, John "LJ" Dayhoff Jr. and Josh Dayhoff; a granddaughter, Tiffany Cline; ten step-grandchildren, Yvette Garvin, Lacey Garvin, India Garvin, Kayla Garvin, Shanna Garvin, Whitney Garvin, Sydney Garvin, Eddie Garvin, Alex Garvin and Jarod Garvin; and his second wife, Elizabeth Nayden (Lizor) Dayhoff.

In addition to his parents and first wife, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Linda Thomas.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 18, 2011, at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Friends will be received on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
