Charles Henry Jr. Walling

Charles Henry Walling Jr., 74, of Hagerstown, went to be with the Lord Monday, Sept. 19, 2011, at his home, under the care of Hospice of Washington County.

Born Sept. 5, 1937, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Charles H. Walling Sr. and Josephine Elizabeth (Riley) Walling.

Mr. Walling retired with more than 30 years of service as the head greenskeeper at Fountain Head Country Club.

He is survived by one brother, John E. Walling; three sisters, Anna Mae Knight, Ruth Myers and Doris L. Shatzer; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Harry J. Walling, James M. Walling Sr. and George M. Walling; and three sisters, Josephine E. Divelbliss, Betty Oberholtzer and Evelyn Billig.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, at 1 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown.

Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m.
