Charles Ray Crone

Charles Ray "Charlie" Crone, 85, of Hagerstown, passed away, Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at Julia Manor Health Care Center, Hagerstown.

Born October 31, 1927 in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late, Guy Kemper and Marie Alberta (Spence) Crone.

Mr. Crone was a 1945 graduate of Hagerstown High School.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II.

He retired with 41 years of service as a Salesman for Tristate Electrical Supply Company, Hagerstown.

Mr. Crone was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, of Hagerstown as well as the Alsatia Club where he served as president, vice president and parade chairman. He was also a member of the Hagerstown Elks Lodge 378; Hagerstown Amvets Post No. 10; and the Funkstown American Legion Post No. 211.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Betty Jane (Schildtknecht) Crone; one daughter, Deborah Marie (Crone) Cantler and husband Buck of Hagerstown; one brother, Guy Kemper Crone, Jr. of Hagerstown; daughter in law, Linda Crone of Hagerstown; four grandchildren, Judi Ann Warren and husband Eric of Hagerstown, Heath Daniel Crone of Hagerstown, Brett Daniel Crone and wife Nikki of Greencastle and Katie Jane Lingg and husband Kyle of Hagerstown; as well as seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he also was preceded in death by one son, Daniel Charles Crone and one sister, Ruth Jean Eaton.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, January 21, 2013 at 1:00pm at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Randy Reid officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday from 6-8pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Charlie's name to the Alzheimer's Association, 108 Byte Dr., Frederick, MD 21702.
