Clara Mae Secrest Whittington Bowers

Clara Mae (Whittington) Secrest Bowers, 84, of Hagerstown, died on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Meritus Medical Center.
Born August 16, 1928 in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late John Ardel and Leola Florence (Burke) Whittington.
Clara Mae worked as a receptionist for Ryan Physical Therapy. She also worked as an aide in the Washington County Hospital in the maternity, x-ray and physical therapy wards. Clara Mae also worked at the Mid-Atlantic Orthopedic Center and retail at Rosenâ??s in downtown Hagerstown. She retired at the age of 79 as the â??coffee ladyâ?? at the AC&T on the dual highway.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Ira Foster Bowers.
She is survived by three sons, Steven L. Secrest of Columbia, MD, Kevin M. Secrest and wife Nancy of Hagerstown, Curtis J. Secrest and wife Trudy of Fleming Island, FL; a sister, Doris L. Farrow of Hagerstown; seven grandchildren and two great-grandsons.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00pm on Monday, July 8, 2013 at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 6-8pm on Sunday evening at the funeral home.
