Clark Albertus Stover

Clark Albertus Stover, 92, of Hagerstown, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010, at his home.

Born Oct. 30, 1917, in Clay Hill, Pa., he was the son of the late Roy W. and Mary M. (Gilland) Stover.

He was a graduate of Greencastle (Pa.) High School.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he guarded Hermann Goering during the Nuremberg Trials.

Clark retired as an engineer at Fairchild Aircraft in Hagerstown.

He was a member of the Hagerstown Church of the Brethren, the Last Man's Club and Morris Frock American Legion Post 42.

Clark was preceded in death by his wife, Armatha A. (Smith) Stover.

He is survived by one sister, Mary Louise Stover; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Glenn Gilland Stover, Omar William Stover and Ellis Roy Stover.

A funeral service will be Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with Pastor Ed Poling and Chaplain Jim Hay officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, with military honors being accorded by the Maryland State Honor Guard.

Friends will be received one hour before the service at the funeral home.
