Clark Shaffer Culp

Rev. Clark Shaffer Culp, 86, of Pittsburgh, Pa., passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at the UPMC Mercy Hospital.

Born October 6, 1928, in Trafford, Pa., he was the son of the late Rev. LeRoy Thomas and Catherine Mae (Shaffer) Culp. In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Virginia (Sengstack) Culp; his 2nd wife, Ernestine (Chronowit) Culp; a granddaughter, Kathryn Margaret Harr; a neice, Maedith (Culp) Hopper and two brothers, Rev. Thomas L. Culp and Rev. David G. Culp.
Rev. Culp graduated from Trafford High School in 1946. He attended Metropolitan Bible School and graduated from Eastern Bible Institute in 1949.

Rev. Culp was a Church of God (Cleveland, TN) minister having served in Washington D.C., Indiana, Florida, Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia, Delaware and Pennsylvania. His love of preaching continued into his retirement during which time he filled in as interim pastor at several churches in Pittsburgh. He ministered daily to people he encountered until his passing. He was involved in many pastoral associations.

Rev. Culp loved to sing and play the trumpet. As a young adult he travelled with a gospel quartet. He enjoyed following sports, rooting for all teams Pittsburgh. He was well known for his love and knowledge of automobiles and for the immaculate care he took of his cars.

He is survived by three children, Clark S. Culp, Jr. (former wife Judy Cook) of Seaford, DE and their children, Amy Willey ( husband, Jason) and Jenny Baxter (husband, Ian); Kathy S. Miller (husband, Jack) of Seaford, DE and their children, David Miller, Greg Miller (wife, Laura), Margaret "Molly" Miller and Randy Miller; Nancy R. Wolfe (husband, Jerry) of Boonsboro and their children, Rachel Hardy (husband, Danny), Tyler Wolfe and David Wolfe (wife, Brittany).
He had 15 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Inurnment will be private and held at the convenience of the family in
Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.

There will be a memorial service to honor Rev. Culp’s life on Saturday, June 20th, 2015 at 11:00 am. At Salem United Methodist Church, 25 S. Main Street, Keedysville, Md. 21756. Pastors Robert G. Brennan, Jr and Elizabeth LeMaster will officiate.
