Claude Hubert Melton

Claude Hubert Melton, 93, of Inwood, W.Va. passed away, Friday, November 19, 2021, at the Hospice of the Panhandle, Kearneysville, W.Va.
Born July 1, 1928 in Washington, D.C. he was the son of the late, Hubert Bryan and Beulah Belle (Sumrow) Melton Venable.
Mr. Melton was a 1946 graduate of William McKinley High School, Washington, DC and a 1953 graduate of Columbia Union College with a B.A. in physics and mathematics.
He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War where he served in the Army medical Corps.
Mr. Melton retired as a physicist and had worked for the Transportation Research Center of Ohio, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the National Bureau of Standards and the Naval Research Laboratory.
He was a member of the Willow Brook Seventh-day Adventist Church, Boonsboro and was baptized by famous evangelist (then pastor) Robert L. Boothby, Capital Memorial SDA Church, Washington, D.C.
In addition to being a first elder of the SDA Church in Bellefontaine, Ohio; he also was a member and treasure of the Philosda Club (Singles) and vice-president of the Vegetarian Society of the District of Columbia.
His achievements include author of two and Co-author of three scientific papers. He was the author and most important contribution to society, tracts; "Longing" (poem about New Jerusalem); "Footprints of God-Does God Exist?"; "Cosmic Conflict and Earth's Destiny" (Bible account of Jesus and Satan conflict through the ages) and an Autobiography of the authors science events, "Claudes Adventures with Science"
Mr. Melton's hobbies include, experiments, high-voltage demonstrations, hand balancing, running, recorder solos, photography and writing poetry and prose and sermons.
He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Frances Margaret (Sparrough) Melton and a step son, John Frick.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 3:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with Pastor Shawn Paris officiating.
Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
