Clinton Eugenio Mowen

Clinton Eugenio Mowen, 76, of Greencastle and formerly of Hagerstown, passed away Saturday, June 9, 2012, at York Hospital.

Born Aug. 19, 1935, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Eugenio K.T. and Helen Rebecca (Karn) Mowen.

Clinton was a 1953 graduate of Hagerstown High School. In 1973, he graduated from the FBI National Academy (95th Session) and went on to receive a bachelorâ??s degree from the University of Baltimore.

He retired from the Hagerstown Police Department as the chief of police in the late 1980s. For several years after retirement, he was a general manager of the Woodmont Chapter of the IWLA, Hancock, Md.

Clinton attended the First Baptist Church in Hagerstown.

He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. Clinton was a life member of the NRA, Greencastle Sportsmenâ??s Association, and a member of National North American Hunting Club.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lois JoAnn (Byers) Mowen, who passed away Sept. 22, 2008. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brother, Paul Berry Mowen; and son-in-law, Maj. John Milton Hinkle II (USMC ret).

Clinton is survived by a daughter, Cynthia â??Cindyâ? L. Hinkle of Hagerstown; a son, Jeffrey C. Mowen and wife, Diane, of Greencastle; three grandchildren, Jason C. Hinkle and wife, Erica, Tracy E. Hinkle and fiancé, David R. Wellman Jr., and Steven C. Mowen and wife, Krissy; four great-grandchildren, twins, Avery and Landon Hinkle, Owen Hinkle and Peyton M. Mowen.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with Pastor David Grove officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Friends will be received Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home and again one hour prior to the service.
