Conrad O. Ashley

Conrad O. Ashley, 84, of Hagerstown, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at his home, while surrounded by his family.

Born February 15, 1932 in Kansas City, Missouri, he was the son of the late Shelby Ashley and Alma (Lyles) Ashley Harrison. Conrad moved to Ogden, Utah, as a young teen with his family. 

After an honorable discharge from the Armed Forces during the Korean War, Conrad met and married Sadie McFarlane in Pacoima, CA.  He soon returned to Ogden, Utah, where he and his wife raised their family.

He retired as a federal employee at Hill Air Force Base in Utah.

Conrad was a member of The Seventh Day Adventist Church, where he enjoyed teaching bible lessons. He had a special gift for memorizing scriptures. 

His favorite past time was spending time with family. Conrad had a natural green thumb with a talent for landscaping and gardening.

He leaves to cherish, his loving wife of 55 years, Sadie Edna (McFarlane) Ashley; his children, Shelby Ashley and fiancé, Patty Fischer of Sandy, UT., Merrilyn Ashley-Biggus and husband, Austin of Charlotte, NC., Loranda Distan and husband, David of Hancock, MD.; a daughter-in-law, Michelle Ashley of Ogden, UT; a brother, Bobby Ashley and wife Lady Ashley of Idabel, OK.; eight grandchildren, Shelise Ashley, Anthony Haywood, Marcelis Ashley, Garrison Haywood, Alexandria Distan, Morgan Ashley, Ashley Distan, David Distan; six nieces and nephews; and a host of loving friends and relatives.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00am on Friday, March 11, 2016 at the Hagerstown Seventh Day Adventist Church, 11507 Robinwood Dr., Hagerstown, with Chaplain Kenneth Anderson officiating.

Interment will follow with military honors at Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery, Flintstone, Maryland.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 10th, from 7-9pm at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, and again one hour prior to the service at church on Friday.
