Cornelia Jane "Connie" Lindsay, 79, of Hagerstown, passed away Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, at her home surrounded by her family.
Born Dec. 29, 1932, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Hazel V. Thomas Binkley and John Wilbur Thomas.
Connie was employed by SS Kresges and Montgomery Ward, and retired from Weis Markets after 31 years of service.
She is survived by her beloved sister, Betty Minnich of Greencastle, Pa.; two brothers, Bill Thomas of Greencastle and Robert Thomas of Quincy, Pa.; her loving children, a daughter, Cynthia Dawson and Rick of Greencastle, three sons, Curtis Hutzell and Becky of Greencastle, Steven Hutzell and Mary of Williamsport and Keith Hutzell of Greencastle; her cherished grandchildren that she adored, Fawn McManus and Joe of Waynesboro, Derrick Hutzell, Danielle Gregory, Brian Reese and K.C. Hutzell, all of Hagerstown, Jason Guess of Virginia Beach, Va., and Jody Guess of Hagerstown; four great-grandchildren, Bryson, Landon, Conner and Evan, who inspired her with happiness; several nieces and nephews; a great-great-niece; and many friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Thomas; a granddaughter, Amanda Gregory; nephew, Mike Thomas; and a great-niece, Dusty Thomas.
Connie was a loving mother, sister and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family, always concerned about others more than herself. She had a heart of gold and was a "one-of-a-kind" mother. Her family was her life.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with the Rev. Mark C. Mooney officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Connie's name to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
