Maugansville, MD Darrel H. "Buck" Buchanan, 97, of Maugansville, passed away, Friday, January 10, 2014, at the Williamsport Retirement Center, Twin Oaks, Assisted Living, Williamsport.
Born September 24, 1916, he was the son of the late, James M. and Irma Ruth (Hollinger) Buchanan. In addition to his parents he also was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Dorothy L. (Martin) Buchanan in January of 2012.
Mr. Buchanan was a graduate of Hagerstown High School.
He was a member of Christ Reformed Church, Hagerstown. A member of the Conococheague Sportsman Club since 1947; Greenridge Sportsman Club and the Maugansville Goodwill Fire Company for 75 years.
He was employed for 25 years with the Fairchild Corporation and retired from the Pangborn Corporation, both of Hagerstown.
He is survived by his son, Darrel H. "Buddy" Buchanan and wife, Linda of Hagerstown; one grandson, Darrel H. "Bucky" Buchanan and wife Leann of Clear Spring and three great grandchildren , Makayla, Savannah and Deacon.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with the Rev. Gregg R. Meserole officiating.
Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:30 A.M. until 1:00 P.M.
