David Donald Kershner

David Donald Kershner, 59, of Hagerstown, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011, at Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown.
Born April 24, 1951, in Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Clifford G. and Dorene M. (Keckler) Kershner.
He was a graduate of South Hagerstown High School.
David was a member of the Crossroads Church in State Line, Pa., and the Sons of the American Legion in Funkstown, Md.
He retired as a correctional officer at the Maryland Correctional Training Center in Hagerstown and was a truck driver for Weiss Bros. Paper Co., also in Hagerstown.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kathryn L. (Rowe) Kershner; a daughter, Sheila R. Stamper of Fayetteville, Pa.; four sons, Lance D. Kershner of Falling Waters, W.Va., James J. Kershner of Olive Branch, Miss., Michael S. Kershner of Hagerstown and Nicholas D. Kershner of Hagerstown; two stepsons, Jason W. Weigle of Hedgesville, W.Va., and David Cunningham of Hagerstown; a sister, Lori A. Kinsey of Tunnelton, W.Va.; four brothers, Eric S. Kershner of Hagerstown, Clifford J. Kershner of Martinsburg, W.Va., James F. Kershner of Greencastle, Pa., and Wayne V. Kershner of Hagerstown; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with Pastor Walt Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
Friends will be received on Sunday from 5 to 7pm at the funeral home.
