David "Ted" Edward Nelson Mowen, 83, of Hagerstown, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore.
Born August 15, 1929 in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Adam Leroy and Elizabeth Helen (Smith) Mowen.
Ted was the owner of Style-Rite Furniture and Factory. He was a thoroughbred race horse trainer for over 50 years. Ted also was an avid ballroom dancer and loved spending his summers at Pen Mar Park.
In addition to his parents, Ted was preceded in death by his wife, Georganna Catherine Mowen; a son, James Edward Mowen; two brothers, Leroy and Blaine Mowen; and a sister, Corrine Mowen.
He is survived by a son, Mark Mowen and wife Mary, of Walkersville, MD; three daughters; Kathy Seburn and husband Donald, Penny Shields, and Lisa Bartell and husband Chris all of Hagerstown; three sisters, Arlene Aguirre, Beverly Pickering, and Betty Beckhan; a brother Robert Mowen; grandchildren, Jeff, Leaha, Jamin, Brooks, James, Katie, and Sophia; and 7 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, June 10, 2013 at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Avenue, Hagerstown, will Pastor Shawn Bushman officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
