David L. Murray, 80, of Hagerstown, passed away Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, at Julia Manor Health Care Center.
Born Aug. 8, 1930, in Greencastle, Pa., he was the son of the late David C. and V. Kathleen (Zimmerman) Murray.
He graduated in 1948 from Hagerstown High School.
David joined the U.S. Air Force in July 1951, serving four years of duty during the Korean War, two of them in Japan.
He was a self-employed carpenter for 30 years.
David was a member of Morris Frock American Legion Post 42 in Hagerstown and the Interstate Coin Club, for 40 years.
He was a lifetime member of Otterbein United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his sister, Donna Shank, and husband, Richard, of Hagerstown; sister-in-law, Virginia Murray of Hagerstown; two nieces, Larissa Mickley and husband, Dean, of Mont Alto, Pa., and Suzanne Murray of Hagerstown; and three great-nieces, Holly, Megan and Courtney.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard A. Murray.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 18, 2011, at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Stephen Robison officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends will be received one hour before the service at the funeral home
