David MacDonald Sanner

David MacDonald Sanner, 89, of Houston, Texas, and formerly of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Friday, April 29, 2011, at Fallbrook Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Houston.

Born May 7, 1921, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Samuel and Kate (Shenton) Sanner.

Mr. Sanner was a veteran of World War II, serving with the 9th Infantry in the U.S. Army, where he saw action in Tunisia, Sicily, France and Belgium.

A graduate of the University of Maryland, he was employed by the Pangborn Corp. and was a member of its Quarter Century Club.

He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Houston.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Geraldine (Smith) Sanner; son, Paul Sanner and his wife, Sandra, of Athens, Texas; daughter, Christine (Sanner) Wyatt and her husband, David, of San Jose, Calif.; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and six nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Eleanor (Sanner) Ferguson and Katherine (Sanner) Gemmill.

Memorial services will be conducted Monday, May 23, 2011, at 1 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Darrell Layman officiating. Inurnment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded
