Dixie Virginia Lee Sandberg, 86, of Hagerstown, passed away, Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Doey's House, Hagerstown.
Born March 21, 1932 in St. James Maryland she was the daughter of the late, William Reichard and Madaline Busey (Grove) Sensenbaugh. In addition to her parents she also was preceded in death by two brothers, William F. and James T. Sensenbaugh; two sisters, Audrey L. Baker and Imogene G. Neff.
Mrs. Sandberg was a 1950 graduate of Williamsport High School.
In addition to being a wife, mother and grandmother she previously worked in sales for Rosen's Department Store, Hagerstown. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Post 211, Funkstown American Legion and a member of the Early Birds Bowling League at Dual Lanes, Hagerstown.
She is survived by her husband, Lt. Robert L. Sandberg, USN Retired; four children, Robert L. Sandberg, Jr. and wife, Karen of Falling Waters, W.Va., Rory A. Sandberg and wife, Laurie of Hagerstown, Cathy C. McCartney and husband, Tim of Hagerstown and Dixie "Dee" V.L. Ellis and husband, Matt of Chambersburg, Pa.; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Justin, Lauren, Allen, Shannon, Keric and Madison; three great grandchildren, William, Madeline and Robert.
Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dixie's name to Hospice of Washington County (Doey's House), 714 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
Rest Haven Funeral Home, Hagerstown is assisting the family with the arrangements.
