Donald Anderson died on the evening of Sunday, December 29, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Hagerstown. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Irene A. Anderson.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Sandra Dempsey and Gary Cutler; son and daughter-in-law Daniel and Marie Anderson; son Robert Anderson; son and daughter-in-law Christopher and Julia Anderson; grandchildren Paul and Rebecca Bruce, Daniel Dempsey, Karl Anderson, and Adam Yost; and great grand children Aidan and Desmond Bruce. He was preceded in death by his grandson Donald Bruce.

Donald was born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada on July 25, 1922 as the only child of the late Gordon and Madeline Anderson. He was raised primarily by his Grandmother Drummond and his early schooling included playing center on the high school football team. Married on July 25, 1942, Donald relished his wife's large family of brothers and sisters and their many nephews and nieces.

During World War II, Donald was a Sergeant in the Royal Canadian Air Force. He flew several bombing missions while stationed in England as a Navigator and Wireless Air Gunner.

Upon his return from the war, the family resided in Toronto and Guelph, Ontario before moving to Hagerstown in November of 1960 where Donald joined Frick Co. in Waynesboro, PA as the General Sales Manager, and eventually the Vice President of International Sales. Donald later became the President of Reisner, Inc. in Hagerstown.

Donald served on the Board of Directors of the Maryland Theater and for many years as a Coach in local Flag Football leagues. He was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Hagerstown.

Throughout his life, he was loved and admired by all for his with and charm, his lifelong interest in History, and the sincere concern he showed to everyone he knew.

A visitation for friends and family will be held at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel in Hagerstown on Thursday, January 2 from 6 to 8 pm. A memorial service for him will occur on Friday, January 3 at 10:00 am at St. Anne's Catholic Church followed by remembrances at the graveside in Rest Haven Cemetery.
