Donald Guyer Turner

Donald Guyer Turner, 80, of Hagerstown, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2011, at Golden Living Center in Hagerstown under the care of Hospice of Washington County.

Born Feb. 24, 1931, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Roy Edward and Carrie Elizabeth (Poole) Turner.

Mr. Turner retired from Fairchild Corp., where he had worked in metal fabrication.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Florence E. (Kershner) McSherry Turner; one stepson, David McSherry and wife, Catherine; one sister, Violet Wilson and husband, Francis; and one brother, Edward Turner, all of Hagerstown; three stepgrandchildren, two stepgreat-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and his beloved pet dog, Allie.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Wheat and Rosie Barger; and a sister-in-law, Mildred Turner.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 4, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Jeffrey Casto officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends one hour before services at the funeral home.
