Donald O. Royer

Donald O. Royer, Jr., 80, of Hagerstown, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2015 in his home.
Born May 27, 1935 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Donald Ordean Royer, Sr. and Evelyn Grace (Sprenkle) Royer.
Donald was a veteran of the United States Navy.
He retired after 35 years of service as a lineman at Potomac Edison Power Company.
Donald was a member of the American Legion Post No. 211; Ali Ghan Shriners in Cumberland; Friendship Lodge No. 84 in Hagerstown; and the Elk's Club No. 378 of Hagerstown.
In addition to his parents, Donald was also preceded in death by his wife of 25 years, Doris J. Royer; a son, Steve Royer; a brother, Richard Royer; and a sister, Norma Jean King.
He is survived by a son, Matthew Royer of Eldersburg; a daughter, Lynne Sheedy and husband Daniel of Boonsboro; a step son, Samuel Beyard and wife Anita of Felton, DE.; a brother, Paul Royer and wife Florence of Accident, MD; and six grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, September 28, 2015 at Rouzerville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Robert Marsh officiating. Interment will follow in Harbaugh Church Cemetery.
Friends will be received at church one hour prior to the service.
