Donna Mae Smith

Donna Mae (Rockwell) Smith, 74, of Hagerstown, passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at the Adler Center for Caring, in VA.

Born November 23, 1941, in Mercersburg, she was the daughter of the late James Nelson Rockwell, Sr. and Beulah (Keyser) Rockwell. She was also preceded in death by her brother, James N. Rockwell, Jr.

She was a 1959 graduate of South Hagerstown High School. After graduating, Donna starting working for Allegheny Power and stayed there up until her retirement.

She was a member of Christ's Reformed Church; Ladies Auxiliary at Funkstown American Legion Post 211; League of Women Voters; Ladies of The Elks and Associates of Hagerstown Lodge #378; and the North American Rod & Gun Club Ladies Auxiliary. Donna was active in the BPW. She was treasurer of The Valley Art Association, which is suiting because of her love for painting.

Donna is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, John A. Smith; a nephew, James N. Rockwell, III and his wife, Pamela; a great niece, Rebecca Rockwell; a great nephew, Bryan Rockwell; a cousin, Pamela Hunter and husband Matthew, and their children, Patrick and Ryan.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00pm on Friday, December 4, 2015 at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Gregg Meserole officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 6-8pm on Thursday at the funeral home and again one hour prior to the service on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, 401 Museum Dr, Hagerstown, MD 21740 or Christ's Reformed Church, 130 W Franklin St, Hagerstown, MD 21740.
