Doris Evelyn Harp Miller

September 6, 1922 — August 7, 2013

Doris Evelyn (Harp) Miller, 90, of Hagerstown, passed away, Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at her home, in company of her family.

Born September 6, 1922 in Roxbury, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late, Wilbur Paul Harp and Pauline (Walters) Harp Bennett.

Mrs. Miller was a 1945 graduate of Hagerstown Business College.

She retired as a school secretary with the Washington County Board of Education, from Howard Street and Emma K. Doub Schools.

She was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church, Chewsville, where she was a 50 year member of the Altar Committee and the Bethel U.M.C. Women at the Well.

In addition she was a charter member and past president of the Chewsville Lioness Club, past president of the Green Acres Homemakers, a member of Washington County Homemakers, a charter member of the Hill 'n Dale Garden Club, a member of Springhill Garden Club, Washington County Historical Society, Antietam Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, Washington County Hospital Auxiliary, Washington County Association of Retarded Citizens, AARP and Ladies of the Elks and Associates.

She is survived by one son, Perry Christopher Miller; one daughter, Priscilla Ann Miller; one sister, Charlotte R. Harp Horst, all of Hagerstown; two great grandsons, Christopher Richard Miller and Michael Ragan Miller, both of Clear Spring; one nephew, William E. Horst, Jr. and wife Diane of Greencastle; two nieces, Benelle South Hammer and husband Robert of Smithsburg and Linnie Walters Shockley of Richmond, Va.
In addition to her parents she also was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, A. Romayne Miller; one son, Paul R. Miller and one grandson, William Christopher Miller.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Bethel United Methodist Church, Chewsville with Rev. Linda Warehime and Rev. John W. Schildt officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.

Friends will be received at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel on Friday from 6-8 P.M. and at the church on Saturday one hour prior to the services.
