Doris Louise Wood, 76, of Hagerstown, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown.
Born June 14, 1934, in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Thurman Charles and Helen Louise (Hessong) Baker.
Mrs. Wood retired as a laborer with the Rotorex Co. of Walkersville, Md., in 1998. She had previously worked at the Washington County Board of Education, the Morgan County Commission and Ravenwood Nursing Home.
She is survived by five children, Brenda Joyce Stouffer of Hagerstown, Albert D. Hawks Jr. of Elizabethton, Tenn., Cathy M. Payne of Berkeley Springs, Timothy A. Hawks and Christine I. Norris, both of Hagerstown; one sister, Sandra F. Campbell of Hagerstown; two brothers, Robert Baker of Hagerstown and Jay Baker of California; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Henry Wood; three sisters, Annabelle Palmer, Betty J. Busch and Delores Murray and four brothers, Donald, Thurman, Jerry and Joseph Baker.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, May 7, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with Pastor Mike McNamee officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.
