Dorothea Marie Schaffer

Dorothea Marie Schaffer, 86, of Hagerstown, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2011, at the Village of Robinwood.
Born June 6, 1924, in Lehighton, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Oscar S. and Helen L. (Rogers) Mertz.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Hagerstown Homemakers Club. She also was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Hagerstown, the Hagerstown Garden Club and Alpha Epsilon Sorority.
She is survived by four children, Cynthia L. Calvert and husband H. Gregory of Plantation, Fla., Deborah A. Donoghue and husband John of Ocean Isle Beach, N.C., Judith S. Green and husband Jim of Blue Anchor, N.J., and John A. Schaffer II of Hagerstown.; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, John A. Schaffer.
Funeral services will be at Trinity Lutheran Church, 200 block of North Potomac Street, Hagerstown, on Friday, March 11, 2011, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Eric A. Norgard officiating. Entombment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
Friends will be received at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m
