Dorothy Elaine Smallwood

Dorothy Elaine Smallwood, 91, of Hagerstown, formerly of Smithsburg, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Meritus Medical Center.

Born January 20, 1922 in Smithsburg she was the daughter of the late John R. and Fanny Genevieve (Nunamaker) Wolf.

Dorothy was a homemaker and devoted her life to her husband, daughter and granddaughter. She was a member of the Bridge of Life Church, Hagerstown, the Cavetown Homemakers and was a lover of animals. Her hobby was making flower arrangements to give as gifts to her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol J. Baker of Hagerstown; a granddaughter, Michelle E. Short and husband Jeff of Hagerstown; two great grandchildren, Jeffrey L. Short, Jr. and wife Nadia, both serving in the US Air Force in Las Vegas Nevada and Jordyn Short of Hagerstown; a sister, Lois Pitsnogle of Vermillion Ohio and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to her parents she also was preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul Milford Smallwood and two nephews, Robert and Terrence Pitsnogle.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with Pastor Jim Davies officiating.

Interment will follow in Smithsburg Cemetery.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6-8 P.M.
