Edna Marie Strausbaugh, 84, of Hagerstown, died Saturday, July 2, 2011, at Reeders Memorial Home in Boonsboro.
Born April 9, 1927, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late George A. and Naomi E. (Huffer) Strausbaugh.
Edna was a member of St. Maryâ??s Catholic Church in Hagerstown.
She had worked as a security guard for the State of Tennessee Preparatory School in Nashville.
Edna was a member of Maugansville Homemakers Club and St. Maryâ??s Catholic Church. She enjoyed crafts and Native American culture and history.
She was the last of her immediate family. Edna will be remembered as a wonderful, loving mother.
Edna is survived by two daughters, Victoria A. Mitchell of Hagerstown and Beverly K. Mitchell of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; a son, William D. Mitchell Jr. and wife, Catherine, of Loudon, Tenn.; a grandson, Keith D. Filson and wife, Kim; two great-granddaughters, Kaitlyn O. Filson and Kristin R. Filson; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Raymond and Olevia (Boward) Huffer; a brother, Robert Strausbaugh; a sister, Helen F. Bloom; and a grandson, Steve T. Filson.
A funeral service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. J. Collin Poston officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
