Edward Daniel Swope, Sr.

Edward Daniel Swope, Sr., 87, of Boonsboro, passed away, Monday, May 5, 2014 at his home.
Born December 16, 1926 in Boonsboro, Maryland, he was the son of the late Floyd Daniel and Pansy Arbutis (Arnold) Swope. In addition to his parents he also was preceded in death by a grandson, Thomas A. Grams III; three sisters, Charlotte Swope, Anna Swope and Levena Swope Welch; three brothers, Donald, Wilbur and Dalton Swope.
Mr. Swope was a US Navy veteran of WW II.
He retired as a machine operator for Grey's Concrete Pipe Company, Hagerstown.
He enjoyed planting his garden and flowers, butchering and fishing.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Betty Ruth (Kepler) Swope; seven children, Daniel Swope of Hagerstown, Betty Green of Funkstown, Audrey House and husband Harry of Boonsboro, Trish Wampler and husband Frank of Hagerstown, Sue Grove and husband, Eddie of Downsville, Bill Swope of Boonsboro and Sonny Swope and wife Shelly of Boonsboro; two sisters, Sylvia Swope Johnson of Hagerstown and Vivian Bussard and husband John of Waynesboro eleven grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with Pastor Mark Waldron officiating.
Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 7-9 P.M. and on Friday one hour prior to services.
