Ellen Genevieve Tracy

Ellen Genevieve Tracy, 99, of Hagerstown, passed away Monday, April 10, 2017 at Brookdale Assisted Living.

She was born on January 15, 1918, in Chewsville, MD, she was the daughter of the late Sarah Ann (Kuhn) and Mason Rhea Smith. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years Daniel Earl Tracy; five brothers, Arthur Smith, Howard Smith, Verdeen Smith, Wilbur Smith, and Kenneth Smith.


She graduated from Hagerstown High in 1936.

Genevieve worked at the Hagerstown Shoe Co., Leonards Drapery and then continued working at Ames up until its closing and then finished up her career at Dollar General at the age of 92.

She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Chewsville, MD. She also enjoyed making many quilts, working in her garden, and taking rides.


She is survived by her daughter Phyllis Harbaugh and husband Bill of Hagerstown; a son Donald Tracy and wife Anne of Ormond Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren Gary Harbaugh and wife Cherie, Jeffrey Harbaugh and wife Laura, Troy Tracy and wife Lisa and Aubrey Munshi and husband Fazel; great grandchildren, Benjamin Harbaugh, Matthew Harbaugh, Carlee Harbaugh, Tyler Harbaugh, Owen Tracy, Ella Tracy, Max Tracy, Meghan Rager and husband Butch, Allison Ruth, Aiden Munshi and Addie Munchi; sister-in-laws Betty M. Smith of Carlisle Pa, and Elinor L. Smith of Pensacola, Fla.


Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Rest Haven Funeral Home, Inc. 1601 Pennsylvania Ave Hagerstown, with Pastor Jim Johnson officiating. Interment will be at Rest Haven Cemetery.

Friends and family will be received at Rest Haven from 7 to 9 pm on Wednesday April 12, 2017.
