Emory Odell Deiterich

Emory Odell Deiterich, 83, of Hagerstown, passed away, Saturday, March 23, 2013 at NMS Healthcare, Hagerstown.

Born, October 24, 1929, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late George Fred Dieterich, Sr. and Katherine Lenore (Schindel) Dieterich and raised by his aunt and uncle, the late, C. Franklin and Grace V. Schindel.

Mr. Deiterich was a 1947 graduate of Hagerstown High School and received his Associate of Arts Degree from Hagerstown Junior College.

He was employed in the sales department for the Pangborn Corporation, then served in the US Air Force during the Korean War, after his discharge he worked for 20 years as an agent and sales manager for the Allstate Insurance Company in Richmond and Baltimore, then retiring with 26 years of service as an agent for the Nationwide Insurance Company in Hagerstown.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Hagerstown; a member the B.P.O.Elks No. 378 and their Thursday night 10 pin bowling league; a lifetime member of the Funkstown American Legion No. 211; the AARP and a member of the Beaver Creek Country Club.

He is survived by his loving wife, Pauletta N. (Kline) Deiterich; four children, Mark O. Deiterich and wife Kelli of Smithsburg, E. Todd Deiterich and wife Sofiya of Chicago, Ill., Emily N. Benas and husband Tim of Gaithersburg and Amy E. Mason and husband Michael, of Hagerstown; four grandchildren, Nathan Deiterich, Mitchell Deiterich, Rebecca Mason and Izzac Deiterich; one brother, Tim Schindel of Hagerstown.

In addition to his parents and his aunt and uncle, he also was preceded in death by two brothers, George F. Dieterich, Jr. and Robert E. Dieterich; three sisters, Helen J. Lawrence, Mary Catherine Kitchen and Carmen Fix.

A memorial service will be conducted on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Randolph and N. Potomac Sts., Hagerstown, with the Rev. David Oravec officiating.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, from 6-9 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown.
