Eugene Warner Huffman

Eugene Warner Huffman, 95, of Hagerstown, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at his home.

Born March 28, 1920 in Keyser, West Virginia, he was the only son of the late Donald McKinley and Frank Marie (High) Huffman.

He was a 1938 graduate of Keyser High School.

Eugene was a veteran of the United States Navy during WWII serving in the Pacific as a Seabee.

He owned and operated Huffman's Esso Station on the National Pike from 1947- 1965, and also retired as an inspector at Fairchild Industries after 43 years in 1982.

Eugene was a member of Cedar Lawn Missionary Church; the VFW and the American Legion.

Eugene was very hands-on until the end, being able to fix most anything. He had a passion for aviation.

He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Doris Lorrain (Miller) Huffman, whom he married on December 12, 1942; three sons, Fred Huffman and wife Mary of Falling Waters, WV, Donald A. Huffman of Hagerstown, Mark W. Huffman of Gaithersburg; four grandchildren, Freddie Huffman, Jeff Huffman, Scott Huffman, and Erika Huffman.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00pm on Monday, December 21, 2015 at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with Rev. Ward Childerston officiating. Interment will follow with military honors in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
