Eugenia Lucille Rogers

February 9, 1925 — March 6, 2014

Eugenia Lucille Rogers (Lucy), 89, passed away at Hearthstone Retirement Home in Waynesboro, PA on March 6, 2014.
Lucy will be loved forever by her family and friends. She was beautiful and had a heart of gold, feisty with a great sense of humor, and a very deep love for her entire family. She especially loved kids and they loved her. She spoiled them all--and their animals as well.
Born February 9, 1925 in Anderson, S.C., she was the daughter of the late James and Henrietta Carroll Rogers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Jefferson Rogers, her sister Carol Ann Rogers Fahey, and her nephew James Michael Long.
Lucy is survived by one sister, Nancy Rogers Long McGlothlin; five nieces and one nephew: Debra Ann Fahey Ryall; Donna Marie Fahey Marconi; Diane Patricia Fahey Moyer; Linda Diane Long Williams; Lori Rebecca Long, and John David Fahey--and their children and spouses.
Lucy worked 40 years in the U. S. Government as a civilian employee, with the U. S. Navy, the U. S. Air Force, and the U. S. Army. While working in Japan with the Army, she was the only woman in her group to climb to the top of Mt. Fuji--and the only time seen wearing blue jeans.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Avenue, Hagerstown. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hearthstone Retirement Home, 102 South Potomac Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268-2620.
