Florence (Flossie) Lilley passed away on Dec., 7, 2013. Hospitalized after a fall in November, cancer was discovered, followed by other critical procedures. Feisty and funny until the end, she survived breast cancer and the death of her husband Herb (2000). She lived on her own in Hagerstown through support of friends and neighbors.
Flossie grew up in New York state and Massachusetts, where she always managed to speak her mind throughout public and nursing school. She spent many years working for Group Health Ass. in Montgomery County. She and Herb lived happily over 30 yrs. in Hagerstown. Throughout, she "tangled with life" on her own terms, and gave all she could in support of her family.
A Registered nurse, Flossie was known for her free nursing advice, holiday baking, a love of sewing, and local volunteering. Her last healthy day was spent with her beloved Chi Sigma sorority friends.
She leaves behind her 2 sons; Marc R. and (Charles) Chip H. Lilley and their families.
Inurnment is private and held at the convenience of the family.
