Francis Albert Peacock, Jr.

Francis Albert "Frank" Peacock Sr., 91, of Chambersburg, died on Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born Aug. 1, 1919, in Mariah, N.Y., he was the son of the late James Byron and Cora (Williams) Peacock.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force, serving during World War II.

He retired from Keen Transport in New Kingstown, Pa., as a truck driver.

Frank was a lifetime member of the Greencastle VFW Post 6319 and the Greencastle American Legion Post 373. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association and St. John's Episcopal Church in Hagerstown. Frank was an avid hunter, camper and fisherman. He loved the outdoors.

Frank is survived by his loving wife of over 67 years, Edith M. (Bubil) Peacock; a daughter, Nancy Bowers, and husband, Roger, of Chambersburg; a son, Frank Peacock Jr., and wife, Helene, of Greencastle, Pa.; eight grandchildren, Roger Bowers Jr. of Greencastle, Jeff Bowers of Williamson, Pa., Michael W. Peacock of Chambersburg, Pamela Shaw of Boonsboro, Dena L. Bonebrake of Greencastle, Megan G. Peacock of Mechanicsburg, Pa., Brad Peacock Jr. of Fort Gordon, Ga., and Traci Peacock of Eustis, Fla.; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Bradford James Peacock, and nine brothers and sisters.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 21, 2011, at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Ann Boyd officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, with military honors being accorded by Chambersburg VFW Post 1599.

Friends will be received on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
