Frederick Leland Thornton, 94, of Hagerstown, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Homewood at Williamsport.
Born December 14, 1919, in Boston, MA., he was the son of the late George Cheeseman.
Frederick was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 77 years, Martha Louise Thornton, who died on April 28, 2013; and a brother, Roderick Cheeseman.
He is survived by a son, Fred Thornton and wife Allison of Hagerstown and two granddaughters, Sarah and Christina.

A memorial service was conducted at 11:30am on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. Pastor Jeff Shull officiating. Inurnment was in Rest Haven Cemetery.
