Garland David Lung, 93 of Smithsburg, passed away, Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Sterling Care at South Mountain (formerly Reeders Memorial Home), Boonsboro.

Born at Beaver Creek he was the son of the late, Cleggett B. and Hazel M. (Paulsgrove) Lung. In addition to his parents he also was preceded in death by his loving wife, Helen L. (Barkdoll) Lung; two brothers, John and Harold Lung.

He was employed at Pangborne Corp., Frick Co., Fairchild Aircraft Corporation. Owner of Brewer Candy Co. and retired as mfg. engineer from Grove Mfg. Co. in 1982.

Mr. Lung was a US Army Air Corps veteran of WW II.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Smithsburg where he was past treasurer and served on the Church Council; Morris Frock American Legion, Post 42; Wally Byam Caravan Club; B.P.O. Elks Lodge #378 and he volunteered at the Smithsburg Senior Citizens Center.

He is survived by a step son, Richard Bowers; a step granddaughter, Ruth Ann Huff; a step great grand son, Jason Huff several nieces and nephews including, Roberta Nave.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, April 30, 2108 at 1:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with Chaplain John Sumpter officiating.

Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery where military honors will be accorded.

Family will receive friends on Monday, one hour prior to services.
