Gary Lee Shatzer

Gary Lee Shatzer Sr., 53, of Hagerstown, passed away Friday, April 13, 2012, while surrounded by his family at Meritus Medical Center after a battle with cancer.
Born Sept. 28, 1958, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Doris (Walling) Shatzer of Hagerstown and the late Charles Robert Shatzer Sr.
Gary was previously employed by Rapid Lube, Helm's Janitorial and Horner's.
He was an avid softball player for many years. He also enjoyed bowling and wrestling.
He is survived by his only child, a son, Gary Lee Shatzer Jr.; a sister, Norma Shatzer Taylor; three brothers, Charles Shatzer Jr., Doug Shatzer and Paul Shatzer; nieces, Michelle Myers, Amy Robinson and Lindsay Shatzer; and nephews, Doug Shatzer Jr., Timothy Shatzer, Gary Shatzer and Charles Shatzer III, all of Hagerstown.
A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Mark C. Mooney officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, Hagerstown.
