Gene Edward JR Kauffman

Gene "JR" Edward Kauffman, Jr., 44, of Maugansville, MD, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Meritus Medical Center.
Born in Hagerstown, MD on November 27, 1973, he was the son of Gene Edward Kauffman, Sr. and the late Virginia Elmiria (Howell) Kauffman. In addition to his mother, JR is preceded in death by his sister, Angela Kauffman; grandparents, Evered and Ruth Kauffman and Helen Selby; aunt, Shirley Smith; and 3 uncles, Richard Kauffman, Rick Martz and Bill Graver, Sr.
JR loved painting, hunting, had fond memories of being in the Boy Scouts, was a member of the NRA, had a PhD in Theology and was studying psychology from Grand Canyon University.
He attended Millers Tabernacle.
In addition to his father, JR is survived by his loving wife, Carol Kauffman; two aunts, Sharon Martz and Tina Gossard; 4 uncles, John Kauffman, Stanley Mitchell, Mark Smith and Gary Gossard; his faithfully four-legged companion, Daisy Mae; and numerous cousins.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Rest Haven Funeral Home, Inc. 1601 Pennsylvania Ave, Hagerstown, MD 21742. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery. Pastors Mark Reno and John Reno will be officiating.
Friends and family will be received at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Washington County Humane Society 13011 Maugansville Rd, Hagerstown, MD 21740.
