Gerald T. "Butch" Stine, 66, of Hagerstown, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2013 at Martinsburg Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Born May 5, 1947 in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late John L. and Edith F. (King) Stine.

Gerald was a 1966 graduate of Boonsboro High School.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1966-1969. Gerald was a member of Falling Waters Amvets Post No. 38 and the Williampsort American Legion Post No. 202.

He worked as a truck driver for S.L. Wroten, A.J. Taylor, and Bowman.

Gerald loved to fish and ride around on his scooter. Elvis was his favorite entertainer and he loved listening to his music and spending time with his faithful dog, Angel.

He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Carolyn M. (Hoffman) Stine; a son, William Thomas Stine and wife Misty, of Martinsburg, WV; a daughter, Janet Marie Fink and husband Steve of Williamsport; a sister, Joanne Winebrenner and husband Paul of Hagerstown; and a granddaughter, Brittany Dispanett.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daugther, Carole Nicole Stine and a brother, Richard Wayne Stine.

A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, September 6, 2013 at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Ruth Ebersole officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park with military honors.

Friends will be received on Thursday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.

The family requests that casual clothing be worn in lieu of suits. It's what Butch would have wanted!
