Goldie May (Smith) Jones, 79, of Williamsport, passed away Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, at Williamsport Retirement Village.
Born Dec. 8, 1931, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late John Henry and Lucille G. (Johnson) Smith.
Goldie is survived by her son, Ronald â??Taterâ? Metz and wife, Dawn; two daughters, Linda Wolfensberger and Rose Harshman, all of Hagerstown; four grandchildren, John Wolfensberger and wife, Liz, Victoria Metz, Cari Frazier and husband, Josh, and Jonathan Stambaugh; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Lucille E. Knode, Harry W. Smith, Earl R. â??Big Dickieâ? Smith Sr. and Mary L. Morrow.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with Chaplain Ginger Church officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made in Goldieâ??s name to Williamsport Retirement Village, c/o the Employee Christmas Fund, 154 Artizan St., Williamsport, MD 21795.
The family would like to thank everyone at the nursing home for the loving care that was given to our mother and grandmother. She loved everyone there and we know they loved her.
